Hi All, I have a DS1815+ running DSM 5.2 and I'm having problems adding a network printer so I can use AirPrint. I have an existing IP printer (an old HP Laserjet5P) in the DSM which I added several months ago. Now when I try and add a second network-attached printer (a HP Laserjet6L) it fails immediately after typing in the IP address with the error: The operation failed. Please log in to DSM and try again. I logged into the DSM via SSH and I was able to ping the IP address of the printer I was trying to add. I can access the printer by IP from other machines on the network. Both printers have the same network card, so I'm at a loss to explain why I can't add this printer when I already have one configured in the system I'd appreciate any guidance or any workarounds.

Same story here. DSM 5.2 5592 Update 4 when trying to add a Xerox Workcentre 7328, I type in the IP, then 'Next' and I get the 'operation failed, blablabla' error.

I'd like to know where to look to see what operation failed???? The printer is perfectly reachable (at IP level), and if I give the IP address of my router (just as an example), I get to the next dialog. So what the hell is DSM trying to do with the target IP??? What sort of queries it it trying to do???

The Workcentre is a pretty standard beast, and support most standards, so I'm wondering what DSM is expecting, that the Workcentre can't do (or doesn't do as expected by DSM???). Looking at the /etc/init/cupsd.conf, it seems that cups is enabled only if there is at least one printer. Code: Oct 9 16:53:50 xxxxxx entry.cgi_SYNO.Core.ExternalDevice.Printer.Network.Host[1].get[24198]: printer_net_info_get_by_ip.c:31 Failed to get network printer string ID.[0x0900] Oct 9 16:53:50 xxxxxx entry.cgi_SYNO.Core.ExternalDevice.Printer.Network.Host[1].get[24198]: printer_lib.cpp:1129 Failed to get network printer conf.[0x0900 (null):0] This time the error code now is different (0x0900 instead of 0x0D00).

I tried also to manually add the printer using lpadmin but I had no success. At this time I'm giving up. I might try later. If I figure out how to make it work I'll post updates here, meanwhile if somebody have any idea on how to proceeed. Please let me know.
