Go to and log in with your NDUS.identifier and password—this is the same information used to log into Campus Connection and Blackboard. Click Start AnyConnect to go to the download page for the VPN Client 3. Click the download button to download the installer 4. Follow the installer prompts to complete installation.

Using VPN After Installation Sign-In 1. Open the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. 2. The login windows will appear.

If prompted, enter undvpn.und.edu for the VPN server. NOTE: If you are logging into HRMS Employee Self Service to print W-2s, type: ndusvpn.ndus.edu for the server instead. Select your group from the drop down menu. The Username and Password are your NDUS.identifer credentials.

These are the same as for Campus Connection and Blackboard. 3. Click OK to connect. The status will then change to Connected to. Disconnect 1. To disconnect, go to the Cisco AnyConnect icon in your system tray or menu bar, and select Disconnect.

Windows 8 Installation Error If you are using Windows 8 and receive the error 'Failed to initialize connection subsystem,' follow these steps: • Go to the C: drive on the computer. • Open the Program Files (x86) folder. • Then open the Cisco folder, then Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client folder.

• Locate the file called: vpnui.exe. • Right-click the file and select Properties. • From the pop-up window, click the Compatibility tab.

• Check the box under the Compatibility mode heading and select Windows 8 from the drop-down. • Click Apply, then OK.

• Quit VPN and restart.

I'm trying to VPN to my work place but Cisco AnyConnect fails after initiating a connection. It pops up an error that says The VPN client failed to establish a connection then it shows another error saying AnyConnect was not able to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway.

Please try connecting again. I've tried everything. Reinstalling, restarting, and various other things like disabling ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). I tried it on my laptop and the web-installer worked fine. It installed the client and connected perfectly ok so it must be something with this PC.

I've been trying to figure this out for about 5 hours now and Googling doesn't help. Here's the message history from AnyConnect: [ 1:55:55 PM] Ready to connect.

[ 1:57:05 PM] Contacting --.--.--.--- [ 1:57:07 PM] Please enter your username and password. [ 1:57:08 PM] User credentials entered. [ 1:57:08 PM] Establishing VPN session. [ 1:57:09 PM] Checking for profile updates. [ 1:57:09 PM] Checking for product updates.

[ 1:57:15 PM] Establishing VPN - Initiating connection. [ 1:57:16 PM] Disconnect in progress, please wait. [ 1:57:29 PM] Connection attempt has failed. [ 1:59:31 PM] Ready to connect. I tried turning off the firewall and anti-virus. I didn't think it would matter since my laptop uses the same firewall and anti-virus too and I didn't need to disable that.

My laptop uses Windows 7 Home 64-bit and my PC that is failing is using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The solution for me was to disable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). To resolve this issue: • Click the Windows Start button.

• Click on Control Panel. • Set View by: to Category. • Click on View network status and tasks under Network and Internet. • Click on Change adapter settings. • Look for Shared in the Status column and right-click that connection and click Properties. • Click the Sharing tab. • Clear the Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection check box.

• Reinstall Cisco AnyConnect. I see that disabling ICS did not work for the OP, but it worked for me and many others, according to various forums, it seems. It may be a ThinkPad-specific issue. Indicating that their Access Connections software interferes with AnyConnect.
