Originally Posted 13 May 2014, 7:58 am EST I had an install of Active Reports 8 working within a VS2012 Pro environment with no problems and then today I tried to edit a report and was told that there was no AR8 Licence. I ran the licencing tool and AR8 was not in the list of licenced products but others remained OK (AR7, Spread 7.3). The AR8 licence seems to have vanished for no discernable reason. My system has not experienced any instability or crashes and I keep everything as clean and tidy as possible (frequent AV scans and CCleaner to remove dross.) After this I ran the msi installer for AR8 and performed a repair which failed during the help and samples install. After a reboot I see: Active Reports 8 Product Key = None Licence Status = Licence Error (01-004) Action = Activate, in the Licence Manager. I will try to Activate using my product key but I know that there a limited number of activations permitted.

I don't want to end-up as before having paid for the software, up against deadlines, without a working system and no way of activating. Licencing seems to be very flaky for these products. Copy the tool in c: drive.

Please open command prompt with Run as Administrator option. Change the drive prompt to c: drive.

Input the following command in the command prompt and press Enter. DiagnosticTool.exe D31DE2FD-AF67-4711-BB89-91BE7B362655 This will generate info.dat file in c: drive. I have re-run the installer and performed a [Repair] operation. This fails when trying to install the help files with a message that the current user does not have sufficient rights to install certain files (the user is the administrator). However Active Report 8 reappeared in the Licence Manager and I was able to successfully Activate it; it is working OK within Visual Studio 2012 Pro. I am concerned that if this happens again I will have used all of my activations and I will not be able to proceed.
